New Delhi.Today is the 53rd birthday of that legendary New Zealand all-rounder, who at one time became India’s biggest headache, but then the Indian fans also prayed for the well-being of that all-rounder. Born on 13 June 1970, Cairns is celebrating his 53rd birthday today. From 1989 to 2006, he played 62 Tests, 215 ODIs and 2 T20 matches for New Zealand. He has 3320 runs and 218 wickets in Tests. While scored 4950 runs in ODIs and took 201 wickets. He scored 4 centuries in ODIs, out of which he scored 3 centuries only against India.

Cairns is counted among the great all-rounders of the world. He is away from limelight today. Illness kept him away from the field as well. Actually last year he came to know that he has bowel cancer. Now he is doing recovery. Earlier in 2021, he also had 4 open heart surgeries.
The world saluted the spirit
During the operation, he suffered a spinal stroke and his left side became paralyzed. He stayed in the hospital for about 141 days. He was surrounded by diseases one after the other, but he never gave up the will to live and faced each and every problem firmly. He showed amazing spirit. The result of which is that today he is returning to his normal life. Now he has also started charity work to help people fighting bowel cancer.
