Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the three-Test series against South Africa due to injury. Priyank Panchal, who led India A during the recently concluded three-match series, has been included in Team India in place of Rohit. However, the announcement has not been made by the BCCI yet. According to our affiliate cricket website ‘Cricbuzz’, Rohit Sharma has suffered an injury, due to which he will not be able to play in the Test series.
It is learned that Rohit, who has been practicing at Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex for the past one week, suffered an injury during those practice sessions. It is still unclear whether he will be available for the three-match ODI series for which he was named captain, but it can be confirmed that the injury is quite serious.
BCCI can issue a statement on this soon. However, Cricbuzz can confirm that Rohit, who was ruled out of the recently concluded two-Test series against New Zealand under workload management, will not take part in the Test. Series starting December 26. The team is scheduled to leave for South Africa on 16 December.
Such is the South Africa tour of India
The Indian team will play the first Test match on South Africa tour from 26-30 December at Centurion. The second Test will be played in Johannesburg from January 3 while the third will be played in Cape Town from January 11. The first two ODIs will be played in Paarl on January 19 and 21, while the third ODI will be played in Cape Town on January 23. Due to the Omicron virus, the four-match T20 series has been put on hold for the time being, which was earlier part of this tour.
