Australia’s left-arm spinner Herbert Ironmonger is the oldest player in Test history to reach the number-1 position. He became the top Test bowler in 1933 at the age of 50. Two other bowlers, Tich Freeman and Sydney Barnes, also reached the top at the age of 40. Anderson, who made his debut in 2003, has 682 wickets in 178 Tests.
Ravindra Jadeja also in top-10
India’s Ravichandran Ashwin (864 rating points) has gained one place to reach the second position. Ravindra Jadeja has gained seven places to join the top-10 bowlers. Jadeja managed to grab the ninth spot after taking 10 wickets in the second Test against Australia in New Delhi. He has reached the top-10 for the first time since September 2019. Anderson (866 rating points) is at the top, but Australia captain Pat Cummins (858 rating points) has slipped two places to the third spot.
Akshar Patel in top-5
Akshar Patel has joined the top-5 in the all-rounder list due to his brilliant batting, with Jadeja and Ashwin occupying the top two places. Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne continues to top the list for Test batsmen followed by Steve Smith in second and Pakistan captain Babar Azam in third. India’s Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of cricket indefinitely following a car accident but has retained his sixth position while skipper Rohit Sharma has also retained his seventh position.
