Kandy (EMS). The ODI World Cup to be held on home soil will not be easy for the Indian team under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. In this, apart from Australia, the Indian team will also face tough competition from Pakistan. Just as Rohit and other top Indian batsmen failed against the Pakistani fast bowlers in the first match of the Asia Cup. Looking at that, the path for the Indian team does not appear to be easy.
The Indian team has to play the ODI World Cup from October 5. The Indian team has to play Pakistan on 14 October in the World Cup. In such a situation, the Pakistani team would once again want to unite Rohit and the Indian bowlers. In the group round match of Asia Cup, Pakistan’s fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah had performed brilliantly. The clash between India and Pakistan in Super-4 is to be held on 10th September. If we look at the ODI record in India, Pakistan’s record has been good. It has won more matches against Team India, although only the Indian team has won in the ICC tournament.
The Indian team has played at least one ODI against 12 teams at home. Due to this, it has got more losses than wins against only 2 out of 12 teams. These teams are Australia and Pakistan. Pakistan has defeated India 19 times in ODIs at home. Whereas the Indian team has been able to win only 11 out of 30 ODIs against Pakistan.
Team India may have a good domestic record but if it has to win the Asia Cup and the World Cup, it will have to defeat Pakistan. Till now, Pakistan team has not been able to defeat India in the ODI World Cup, but under the captaincy of Babar Azam, Pakistan defeated the Indian team by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup in the year 2021.
At home, Australia has defeated the Indian team 32 times in ODIs. The Indian team has been successful in winning 30 out of 67 ODI matches while the result of 5 matches has not come. At home, India has won 32 out of 61 matches against West Indies and 33 out of 51 against England.
