Potchefstroom. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Saturday announced that they have appointed a panel of all-women match officials for the final of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup to be held at the JB Marks Oval on Sunday. Vanessa de Silva will oversee the final as match referee, while Candace La Borde and Sarah Dambanevana will be the on-field umpires. Dedunu de Silva will be the TV umpire. At the same time, Lisa McCabe will be the fourth umpire.
After two weeks of matches, which featured 16 teams, the inaugural season of the Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup will begin at 13:45 local time (5:15 PM) in Potchefstroom with Sunday’s final between India and England.
India’s impressive performance against New Zealand in the first semi-final and their eight-wicket win on Friday sealed their place in the final. Player of the match, leg-spinner Parshvi bowled an impressive spell of 3/20 in her four overs as India restricted New Zealand to just 107 runs in 20 overs.
In reply, opener Shweta Sehrawat showed her run-scoring abilities by hitting her third half-century in the competition and chased down the target in 14.2 overs, remaining unbeaten on 61 off 45 balls.
In the other semi-final, England pulled off an incredible thriller against Australia, winning by just three runs, to advance from the other semi-final to the title match.
