Melbourne: Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa is disappointed after being overlooked for the four-Test series starting next month in India. Zampa feels he should focus on other formats instead of improving his red-ball career. Zampa told ‘cricket.com.au’, ‘I am very disappointed, I would have liked to be in the team for this tour. I felt that the way I am growing in international cricket, it would have been a great opportunity for me to play Test cricket.

He said, ‘Six weeks ago I got the message that this was going to be a great opportunity for me and I could possibly be on this tour but it did not happen. I am disappointed with this and now the time has come to do otherwise.

Zampa said, ‘I was very excited to join this tour and the message was that my bowling could prove useful there. But maybe the mind changed at the last moment. Zampa said he is yet to decide on his Test career as his priority is still the ODI World Cup to be held in India later this year and the T20 World Cup next year.

The 30-year-old player said, ‘I am not going to close the door completely for red ball cricket.’ He said, ‘But life is all about balance. I also have a family and then there are white-ball tours and the World Cup. So I have to try to think of the best for my body, myself and my family.
