Aakash Chopra selected his team for Centurion Test, included this player in place of Rahane

New Delhi
Aakash Chopra has selected India’s playing XI for the first Test against South Africa. Ajinkya Rahane has not been able to make a place in Chopra’s team. Rahane was recently removed as the vice-captain of the Indian Test team.

Rahane has been in poor form for quite some time now. He scored a century in Melbourne against Australia in the Boxing Day Test match last year. Although apart from that he has not been able to do anything special. KL Rahul has been named the vice-captain of the team for the Test series against South Africa in Rohit Sharma’s absence.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Chopra preferred Hanuma Vihari over Rahane. Chopra has picked Vihari as the sixth batsman in the lineup.

Chopra said, ‘The biggest question before the Indian team is how many batsmen they want to go with. Even if you go with six batsmen, I will not include Ajinkya Rahane in the team. I will choose Hanuma Vihari. That’s why you sent him to South Africa with India A so that he can get form, adjust to the conditions there and he also scored runs.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Chopra also mentioned Shreyas Iyer. He said that Iyer grabbed the opportunity of debut in the home series against New Zealand with both hands.

He said, ‘You have Shreyas Iyer who hit a great century and half century on debut. After this performance, he cemented his place. Rahane, of course, is a senior player and he is no longer the vice-captain. If I go with six batsmen, I will go with Shreyas Iyer and Hanuma Vihari.

Along with this, Aakash Chopra also selected his team for this match. He said, ‘In my opinion, India’s squad for the first Test – Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant, Ravichandran Ashwin, and three fast bowlers – Shami, Bumrah and Siraj Will be.’

Chopra said it would not be right if Vihari is ignored in the Centurion Test against South Africa. He also played on the field with pain in the Sydney Test against Australia. He was then ignored in the New Zealand series so that he could be adapted to South African conditions.
