RRR had competition with these Hollywood films
In the Best Foreign Language Film category, RRR faced tough competition from films like ‘Argentina 1985’, ‘Bardo’, ‘Decision to Leave’ and All Quiet On The Western Front. But ‘RRR’ defeated all these films and won the award.
Now RRR has its eyes on Oscars 2023. The song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from this film has been shortlisted for the Best Original Song category. The Oscars will take place on March 12 this year at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. ‘Naatu Naatu’ has crossed two categories of Oscars (reminder list and shortlist) and now only the nominations are yet to be chosen. It is expected that this time ‘RRR’ can get the country an Oscar.
And in December last year, SS Rajamouli won the Best Director Award at the New York Film Critics Circle. He is the first Indian filmmaker to win this award. To get this award, Rajamouli’s competition was with Steven Spielberg, who has received many other honors including 3 Oscar Awards. But Rajamouli beat him too.
Now SS Rajamouli has high hopes from his RRR in Oscars. Released on 25 March 2022, ‘RRR’ featured the story of two freedom fighters named Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharama Raju. Made in a budget of around Rs 550 crore, this film created panic at the box office. The film had earned Rs 1200 crores worldwide. Junior NTR and Ram Charan were in the lead roles in the film. Whereas Ajay Devgan and Alia Bhatt were seen in cameos.
