Rakul Preet Singh will be seen for the first time in Junglee Pictures’ campus comedy drama ‘Doctor Ji’ opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. The film also stars Shefali along with Ayushmann and Rakul. Today the makers have shared the first look of the actress from the film.
In order to land the writer-backed role and play Dr. Fatima, Rakul has to learn the nuances of medical terminology and some important surgical procedures for the film, directed by Anubhuti Kashyap. To make everything related to the medical world look authentic on screen, the makers had arranged for a special session with Rakul, Ayushmann, Shefali and the experts to train them as part of the preparation of their characters.
Rakul says, ‘Shooting for ‘Doctor Ji’ has been an interesting experience. Since I am playing the role of a doctor, it was important to be precise in demeanor and action. To look real on screen, it was necessary to learn important things related to the medical world. The journey of becoming Dr. Fatima was an amazing process which I will always cherish.

The actress further said, ‘We wanted Fatima to look authentic. We did several look tests to get the perfect look. His idea was to make him look as close to real as possible and bring out the endearing quality of his character. Just wearing a doctor’s coat gives you a sudden sense of responsibility, even though I was playing only one character. While treating patients for scenes, one can really understand how much responsibility rests on the shoulders of doctors and how difficult their lives are.
Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, ‘Doctor Ji’ is a campus comedy drama co-written by Sumit Saxena, Vishal Wagh and Saurabh Bharat. The makers have recently completed an extensive shooting schedule in Prayagraj and the film will be completed by the end of this month. We haven’t seen many films bringing this kind of approach to mainstream cinema, but with Ayushmann and Rakul playing their respective roles of doctors, ‘Doctor Ji’ certainly makes us look forward.
