Kanwar Dhillon gave an opinion on those who present projects on the basis of followers on social media these days. The Pandya Store actor said, ‘It doesn’t matter to all makers, but unfortunately, it matters a lot to some. Because it has happened many times before when I have been replaced the very next day. This happened to me because of less followers. I get a call and I am told that we are not moving ahead with you and the reason was because I had less followers.’
Rejected many times
He adds, “It is a poor pattern, but it is slowly reducing, and people are realizing that having more followers in one place is not everything.” Kanwar also talked about sharing projects among people with more followers. He said, ‘Having more projects and that too, it is limited to digital only, especially in music videos, in which your Instagram link is asked before working, which is fine because for a digital platform, the makers have to work. It seems that the followers of the actor matter in this.
good actors don’t get chance because of followers
Kanwar was asked if the real talent is not getting the right recognition because of the social media casting trend. To this he said, ‘To some extent the real talent is ignored when it comes to social media. Having lost good projects due to less followers, I can speak for myself and say that I have been through it. But as times are changing, people are coming back to cast good actors. That’s what matters after all.
