Palash Sen talks about how his mother traveled from Lahore to Jammu and Kashmir after Partition. He also revealed that he left his home when he was 17 to pursue MBBS. Dr. Palash himself was also born to parents of this profession.
Palash’s relationship with his mother
In an interview with Mashable India, Palash talked about his mother, ‘She was eight years old when the partition happened. She had walked from Lahore to Jammu as an eight-year-old alone taking care of a four-year-old child. They both went to Jammu alone from across the border. She was very strong. She went to a school where there were only boys as there was no school for girls in Jammu and Kashmir at that time. She was 17 when she left her home and did MBBS from Lucknow.
Palash wears mother’s mangalsutra
He also said, ‘When you’re so strong your funds are a little stronger in life. You are a difficult person. I think because of this there were a lot of disagreements and quarrels between mother and me. They are most important. He had a mangalsutra which he stopped wearing when my father passed away. I started wearing mangalsutra. I wear it I wear it on stage. It seems as if his blessings are with me all the time. I also wear a cartridge, which I got from Egypt. It has the names of my parents on both sides in Egyptian hieroglyphs.’
Palash songs and movies
Palash founded his group Euphoria in 1998 in Delhi. The band is known for hit tracks like Meri, Dhoom Pichak Dhoom, Aana Meri Gali, Ab Na Ja, Soneya, Mehfooz and Sone De Maa. Palash made his acting debut in Bollywood in 2001 with ‘Filhaal’. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film also starred Tabu and Sushmita Sen.
