What did Mahatma Gandhi’s great grandson say
Set in post-independence India in the year 1947-48, ‘Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh’ will focus on the war between Nathuram Godse and Mahatma Gandhi. The film shows Godse’s side of the argument, revealing his reasons for shooting Gandhi in 1948. The trailer of the film gave a glimpse of the eventful meeting of the two.
Films glorify killers – great-grandson Tushar
Talking about the film, Tushar Gandhi was quoted as saying by ANI, “I am not surprised because for them Godse is a hero and if they show him as a hero, it will not affect any of us.” Shouldn’t be surprising. But I cannot comment on the merits or demerits of the film as I have not seen it and I do not intend to watch films that glorify killers.
Well thought out game plan – Tushar
He further added, ‘It is a very well thought out game plan and this role has been given to show all these characters and they have played the role according to their queues and their time limit. The same director portrayed Bapu in a very wrong way in his film Bhagat Singh, so it is not surprising that he would make a film glorifying Godse.
‘Gandhi Godse: Ek War’ to clash with ‘Pathan’
Rajkumar Santoshi had last said that his film on Gandhi is very different. Even he was afraid of the censor (board). He said that he is afraid that the censors may not clear the film completely. But, according to him, he did not cut a single word. ‘Gandhi Godse: Ek Yuddh’ will release ahead of his 75th death anniversary on January 30, on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26. The film’s music is by AR Rahman, composed by Manila Santoshi. The film will clash at the box office with Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathan’, which will release on January 25.
