New Delhi (EMS). The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor in the Mahadev Betting App case related to online betting. Ranbir is accused of promoting Mahadev betting app. ED has called the actor for questioning on October 6. Actually, the investigating agency suspects that Ranbir has taken a huge amount to promote Mahadev App.
ED sources had said that the owners of Mahadev online betting app are suspected to have links in Pakistan apart from local businessmen and hawala operations. As many as 17 Bollywood celebrities are under investigation for attending or performing at the wedding of Mahadev App co-owner Saurabh Chandrakar in February this year and the company’s success party in September last year, sources said.
ED investigation reveals that Ranveer Kapoor was allegedly paid by the promoters of Mahadev betting app in return for endorsing their gaming app. The payment made to Ranbir was the proceeds of crime. Mahadev App promoters Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal allegedly used betting money to pay celebrities. Ranbir was reportedly one of the highest paid celebrities by the app. He also reportedly did social media promotion for the app.
The company owned by Chandrakar and Uppal, operating out of Dubai, was allegedly using the online book betting application to nominate new users, create user IDs and launder money through a web of anonymous bank accounts. It is estimated that the amount of the scam could be up to Rs 5,000 crore and it may increase further as the investigation progresses.
