Washington | The US Senate has confirmed Indian-American Radha Iyengar Plumb as Deputy Under Secretary of Defense by a vote of 68-30. President Joe Biden nominated Plumb, who is currently serving as chief of staff to the deputy secretary of defense, in June 2022.
By a vote of 68-30, the Senate confirms the appointment of Radha Iyengar Plumb, tweeted the US Senate Periodical Press Gallery.
Prior to her appointment as Chief of Staff, she was Director of Insights of Trust and Safety at Google, overseeing teams for Technical Research, Data Science and Business Analyst.
He previously served as Global Head of Policy Analysis at Facebook, where he focused on high-risk security and critical international security issues.
In his Linkedin profile, Plumb describes himself as an experienced leader with technical analyst skills and extensive experience working in government, academia and industry.
Plumb was previously a senior economist at the RAND Corporation, where she worked on improving security efforts at the Department of Defense.
He also held several senior staff positions on national security issues at the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, and the White House National Security Council.
Early in her career, Plumb was an assistant professor at the London School of Economics and did postdoctoral work at Harvard.
He holds a PhD in economics from Princeton University and an M.S. and holds a BS degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
