According to Crime Branch IG Murali Kumar, 10 tigers, including six tiger cubs, have died in the Nilgiri district in the last 40 days. He said that the matter is being investigated. How the tigers died will be known only after investigation. He said that along with the Forest Department, the National Tiger Commission is also investigating the matter. In this connection, a team of NTC has visited the district.
Negligence can also be the cause of death
According to media reports, the cause of death of tigers is being said to be negligence of forest officials. However, till now neither any formal announcement has been made nor it has been confirmed. According to forest department representatives, efforts are being made to identify the female tiger by comparing the DNA of the dead cub with the DNA of other tigers present at that time.
