There are 18,028 schools in the state, of which 15,313 are government schools. According to the report, there are 65,973 teachers in government schools, of which 39,906 are male and 26,257 are female. It states that 12 primary government schools have no teacher at all, while 2,969 have one teacher, 5,533 have two teachers and 1,779 have three teachers.
Similarly, there is one teacher in 51 secondary schools, two teachers in 416 schools, three teachers in 773 schools and four to six teachers in 701 schools. The report also states that similarly many schools at the higher secondary and higher secondary level are also facing shortage of teachers.
It states that there are a total of 63,690 rooms in government schools in the state, but there is no room in seven primary schools, one room in 338 schools, two rooms in 2,495 schools, three rooms in 4,111 schools and seven to 10 in 3,402 schools. There are rooms. At the secondary level three schools have no rooms, 216 schools have only one room, 241 schools have two rooms, 1,111 schools have three rooms and 352 schools have four to six rooms.
The situation is no better in higher secondary and higher secondary schools as well. Schools have been opened following the guidelines of the Right to Education Act. As per the Act, there should be a primary school within one and a half kilometer radius for school going children but the number of students is less due to the difficult terrain in the hill state.
