According to Pawar, there are 101,043 medical seats now, up from 51,348 before 2014. Out of which 52,778 seats are available in government medical colleges and rest 48,265 seats are available in private medical colleges.
He said that there has been a 110 percent increase in PG seats in medical across the country. Before 2014, there were 31,185 seats in the country. But now there are 65,335 seats. Of the total PG seats, 13,246 are under Diplomate of National Board (DNB)/ Fellowship of National Board (FNB). While 1621 PG seats are in the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
