The 6-member committee of the Executive Council (EC) of DU reported that the decision of the Delhi government is arbitrary, the college cannot be de-affiliated without any reason. Elected EC member of this committee, Monica Arora says, the cabinet decision also said that the college will merge with AUD after de-affiliation from DU and wrote to DU to comment on it. But the government never sent the proposal to DU. The college gets 100% of the funds from the Delhi government, but the college has not yet got admission in this session. When DU has not de-affiliated it, how can it be of AUD! Nowhere in DU’s Act and Ordinance it is written that in this way a college can withdraw from it.

The new Vice Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh also formed a sub-committee regarding this, which has had two meetings. Member Monica Arora says, for the first time after our request, on November 15, the Delhi government has proposed to merge the college with AUD. The answer to this will be sent by DU soon. The committee is against merging the college with AUD, as there is no reason for it to move from a central university to a state university.
‘It’s a big loss for the students’
Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) President Dr. A. Of. Bhagi says, till now the college of arts has not got admission because of the government, it is a big loss for the students. Students from all over the country take admission in this college and the existence of this fine arts college lies in its association with DU. Delhi government can open a separate fine arts department in AUD. We will keep this firmly in the Academic Council meeting on December 10 and the rest of the forum. We will also protest against 12 colleges not getting grants and government’s ban on appointments. Teachers will not get salary, colleges will not get teachers, so it will be a loss to the students in every way.
