Today, what is the average cost of educating a child in a good CBSE or ICSE school in the city? The cost is not only tuition fees, you also have to pay for books, uniform, shoes, transportation etc. Also, the cost of extra-curricular activities and admission fee will be so different. On top of that, there is an arbitrary increase in the fees every year by the schools. Our associate newspaper Times of India has gathered information about the average expenditure on a child’s education. This figure may be slightly less or more according to different classes, different schools and different cities.

1 to 2 lakh tuition fees

All schools charge 1 to 2 lakh rupees annually as tuition fees. Some schools also charge an admission fee, which can range from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

Books from 4 thousand to 12 thousand

Some schools claim that they follow their own syllabus and they get the books printed by their own printers. In such a situation, the parents have no other option but to buy books from the schools. Schools charge the full price printed on the book. In some states, governments have banned the sale of school books. But schools play tricks here too. The books taught here are from their in-house publishers and they sell the books themselves. Many schools showed cleverness to avoid action. They sell books but take payment in cash. A parent from East Delhi, while narrating his experience to NBT Online, said that after depositing the children’s school fees online, when he asked about online payment of books as well, the school authorities told him that he would have to pay in cash for the same. .

    Rs 2000 spent on shoes

In many schools, branded shoes are a part of their uniform. On this, the cost of a pair of shoes comes to about 2 thousand rupees. The shoes which are of low cost brands also cost around Rs 500 to Rs 1000.

3 thousand to 7 thousand rupees on uniform

School uniforms are generally of 2 types – normal uniforms and sports uniforms. Most schools have more than one type of uniform. Usually parents buy 2-3 pairs of school uniforms, which cost between Rs 3,000 and Rs 7,000.

The cost of school bus ranges from 30 thousand to 60 thousand rupees.

School bus fare varies from school to school, distance from home and the type of bus. According to the Bus Owners Association, if the student lives within a radius of less than 2 kilometers from the campus, then his fare will be Rs 28,000 to 30,000 annually. If the school is far away, the fee is charged according to the distance. For the first five kilometers, Rs 32,000 to Rs 35,000 will have to be paid. At a distance of more than 5 kilometers, the cost of transport will be from 35 to 60 thousand rupees.

    extra charge

Some schools charge extra for extra activities, tours, annual day, sports day etc.

spends 2 to 3 lakhs annually on a child

In this way, an average of two to three lakh rupees will be spent annually on the education of a child. If a parent has two children, then this expenditure will come up to Rs 4 to 6 lakh.
