Agniveer Scheme: An army recruitment rally under the Agneepath scheme for candidates from Pune and Maharashtra along with five other districts will be held between August 23 and September 11 at Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth in Rahuri, Ahmednagar. Earlier in June, the Defense Ministry had announced its new ‘Agneepath’ initiative to recruit soldiers for the three services.
Under this defense recruitment reform, which was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security, soldiers would be recruited annually. While the appointment is for four years, out of the total annual recruits, about 25 per cent of each batch of Agniveers will be enrolled in the regular cadre of the armed forces and will be required to serve a period of 15 years.
The recruitment rally in Ahmednagar is being conducted for Agniveer General Duty, Agniveer Technical, Agniveer Clerk and Store Keeper Technical and Agniveer Tradesman categories. Candidates from Pune, Beed, Ahmednagar, Latur, Osmanabad and Solapur districts are eligible for the rally, said a press statement issued by the Army through Defense PRO, Pune.

The statement said that, “For this process, candidates need to register and apply online. On Indian Army website http://www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. The admit cards of the candidates who have registered online will be posted on their registered email address. Candidates are advised to go through the eligibility criteria carefully. The candidates enrolled in the recruitment rally will be governed by the terms and conditions of Agneepath Recruitment Scheme. He will be nominated for a period of four years to serve the nation.”
