Zomato gave this information in a blogpost. The company said, “While there is no exact science of the exact number of brands, we believe that even the most organized entity in the industry does not benefit from a single kitchen with multiple brands operating in the same position and also reduces consumer confidence. It happens.”
Zomato said that recently the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has given permission to companies running cloud kitchens to operate multiple brands under a single license.
However, Zomato believes that some companies running registered cloud kitchens are abusing this exemption given in the law and operating too many brands from a single kitchen. Because of this, there is no difference in the offering of their products and the customers also start getting confused.
Zomato said that in view of the poor customer experience in this situation, it has been decided to conduct a physical examination of cloud kitchens running multiple brands. This work will be carried out in collaboration with the National Restaurant Association of India.
Zomato said, “If there are more than 10 food brands operating from any one place, then we are going to physically check that place.”
