Big drop in sales of two wheelers
The month of December saw a lot of lethargy in the auto retail market. Prior to this, vehicles were being sold a lot. According to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), there has been a 5 percent decline in total vehicle sales in December 2022 on a year-on-year basis. The biggest decline in this has been seen in the sale of two-wheelers. It has fallen to 11 per cent in December.
Sales of these vehicles increased
Except for two-wheelers, sales have increased in the rest of the sector. In this, three wheeler sales have increased by 42 percent, PV by 8 percent, tractor by 5 percent and CV sales by 11 percent. If compared with December 2019 before the Corona period, the total vehicle retail was 12% less by 12%. There has been a lot of sales of tractors in the calendar year 2022. In the category of tractors, it has broken all records with the sale of 7.94 lakh vehicles in the year 22. The PV category has also broken all records by registering 34.31 lakh retail sales in Calendar Year 22. However, if we look at the total vehicle sales on a year-on-year basis, it has increased by 15 percent as compared to 2020. On the other hand, if compared to 2019, it has fallen by 10 percent.
Increase in prices also affected sales
The prices of vehicles have increased continuously. The increase in the prices of vehicles has also affected the sales. In this, especially the sales of two wheelers have been affected. In such a situation, if the auto industry has to rise above the time before the Corona period, then there will be a need for more growth in the sale of two wheelers.
