Tata group’s tuti used to speak once upon a time
Till a few decades ago, Tata Group’s tuti used to speak in the beauty sector. Noel Tata’s mother Simone Tata was instrumental in establishing the Lakme brand in 1953. But Tata sold Lakme to the local unit of Unilever Plc in 1998. In 2014, the company again entered this sector, but now the company is taking it seriously. Noel Tata, non-executive chairman of Tata Group’s retail stores operating company Trent Ltd., said in an interview that the company’s emphasis would be on footwear and underwear as well as beauty products. He said that there is scope for growth in retail.
