Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana: The central government keeps coming up with various schemes to advance the economically deprived people. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is also one of these schemes. With this scheme, the government is also connecting the underprivileged people of the country with the banking system. The government started this scheme on 28 August 2014. In such a situation, this scheme has now completed 9 years. The aim of the government regarding this scheme (Govt plan for Jan-Dhan scheme) was to provide banking services to such people who have not been able to reach the services of the bank.
50.09 crore people opened accounts
Accounts are being opened with zero bank balance of the people through the Jan Dhan Yojana launched by the Prime Minister. Along with this, they are also being given free debit cards, with the help of which they can withdraw their money through ATMs. Since the inception of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, till now more than 50 crore beneficiaries have joined this scheme who are enjoying banking services. According to the latest update of the Finance Ministry, 50.09 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened under this scheme in the last 9 years. On an average every year 2.5 to 3 crore accounts are being opened through this scheme.

In such a situation, on completion of 9 years of this scheme, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman threw light on this scheme. During this, he said that the changes and digital change through Jan Dhan Yojana have brought a revolution in financial inclusion in the country. He further said that through this, more than 50 crore people have been added to the formal banking system, whose total deposits are more than Rs 2 lakh crore. Through this scheme, people are given many types of benefits (Jan-Dhan benefits) which include zero balance bank account, free debit card, accident insurance of 2 lakhs and overdraft facility up to Rs 10000.
