The retailers’ association said ensuring economic health and employment continuity is as important as saving lives. The organization said that the emphasis should be on strict adherence to covid friendly proper behavior.
RAI said in a statement, “Partial or complete lockdown should be imposed on retail businesses only in the event of extreme stress on health infrastructure. This should be the last option.”
“The emphasis should be on strict adherence to COVID friendly practices such as masks, social distancing and hygiene by citizens and businesses,” the RAI said.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has adopted a new model of reporting by mentioning the number of asymptomatic patients, hospitalized, oxygen-bedded patients and post-treatment patients discharged on a daily basis. Giving examples of this, RAI said that it is a precise measure which presents a realistic picture of the real situation and prevents panic spread among the citizens.
“We expect all states to adopt this model and take a decision on restricting economic activities based on the number of hospitalizations rather than the positivity rate,” RAI said.
