Three NGOs working in the field of environment released this report on Monday. These three organizations monitor the climate-related performance of the European Union and 59 countries. These countries account for 92 percent of greenhouse gas emissions in the world.
The rankings by Germanwatch, the New Climate Institute and the Climate Action Network are based on how these countries are moving towards halving their emissions by 2030 and preventing dangerous climate change.
The report left the first three spots blank because “no country has performed well enough in all categories of the index to be awarded an overall good rating.” It ranked Denmark fourth, Sweden fifth, and Chile sixth. placed on
India received good ratings in the greenhouse gas emissions and energy use categories, while it received moderate ratings in the climate policy and renewable energy segments.
