    New Delhi: Air pollution is increasing rapidly in the country. Along with air, water and soil are also becoming poisonous. Despite all the efforts of the government, the increasing pollution is not reducing. According to a report, more than 6 percent of India’s indigenous industries (Desi Industries) are not following about 4,40,989 standards. Because of this, air, water and soil are being affected. According to data shared by the Environment Ministry in response to a question in Parliament during the budget session last month, Punjab has the maximum number of polluting industries. There are about (6,293 industries here which are at the forefront of spreading pollution. After this, Gujarat is the number. There are about 4,605, then 3,796 in Rajasthan, 3043 in Maharashtra and 1760 in Jharkhand, which are spreading pollution fiercely. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), fines are imposed on industries that do not follow environmental norms and pollute. During the years 2018-22, fines of over Rs 12.3 crore were imposed. Fines are imposed by taking action against polluters and polluters.

This was followed by Rs 1.03 crore imposed on Assam Petrochemicals Limited, Namrup, Dibrugarh, Assam in February. The Tamil Nadu company had paid the EC. While a closure order was issued against Assam Petrochemicals in November, 2020 for non-deposit of compensation. The list of other companies that have paid EC for violations include Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Ltd. (Gujarat Refinery) of Vadodara, Gujarat; Oil and Gas Corporation (ONGC) Limited, (Tatipaka Mini Refinery), Nagaram, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh; and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Chembur, Mumbai.

    The level of pollution is worrying

    The percentage of polluting industries may seem low but it is worrying. According to experts, there is a need to increase more strictness against such industries. If this is not done then this pollution is going to increase more rapidly in the coming days. Everyone will have to suffer its loss.
