Many lawsuits have been filed
Google is facing lawsuits in many places in the world, not only in the EU. Most of the allegations are about influencing competition. Earlier, Google’s parent company Alphabet and Facebook’s parent company Meta were fined. These two companies were fined a combined $71 million (about Rs 565 crore) in the competition violation case in South Korea.
India is also taking steps
India also seems to be taking steps against Google’s monopoly and antitrust. This battle is being fought in India under the leadership of some organizations. In these, the anti-trust behavior of Google and other tech companies is being challenged. The Antitrust Watchdog Competition Committee of India (CCI) of the Government of India is investigating the petition filed against Google. The petition has been filed by the Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA). In this petition, Google has sought to share a part of its earnings with news publishers and media channels.
Do not go arbitrarily by any one company
Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar says that India is also fixing its responsibility in the Global Antitrust Drive. He said, ‘It will be decided that rules and arbitrariness of any one company do not run in the digital space.’ Chandrashekhar is leading India’s role in this global antitrust drive. There is also a focus that social media platforms follow the rules of India.
