India Energy Week is being organized in Bengaluru from 6 to 8 February. An official said that the Prime Minister will start selling it by pressing the nozzle. With this, its sale will start on pilot basis at 67 petrol pumps across the country. He said that in the year 2014, 1.4 percent ethanol blending in petrol was started. The target of 10 per cent blending was set for November 2022 but it was achieved five months earlier. The original target of 20 per cent blending was 2030 but it was first changed to 2025 and now to 2023. We are launching it in the market several months ago.

The speed with which this program is being implemented reflects the government’s commitment to clean energy transition and climate. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also launch the solar electric cooktop developed in the country. This will give people a low-carbon and cheap option for cooking. It has been developed by the R&D wing of Indian Oil. It is like a modern induction cooktop. It operates on solar as well as grid power.
Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri recently said that India’s population of 1.4 billion is the driving factor for energy demand. India is among the largest consumers of oil in the world. A large scale work is underway to meet the future energy needs. Energy consumption is essential for the growth of any country. Presently 455 crore liters of ethanol is being produced in the country, which is targeted to reach 1,000 crore litres. Ethanol blending with petrol is being done on a large scale in Brazil.
