The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be the longest expressway not only in India but also in the world with a total length of about 1,390 km. It is being made with German technology and there will be no wear and tear in it for the next 50 years. A total of 12 lakh tonnes of steel is being used in this, which is equal to 50 Howrah Bridges. Along with this, 35 crore cubic meters of soil and about 80 lakh tonnes of cement are being used in this project. The country’s first electric highway is also being built on this. In this, the vehicles will be recharged on the go. At present this expressway is of eight lanes but in future it can be increased to 12 lanes. Trains will run at a speed of 120 km per hour on this expressway and the journey from Delhi to Mumbai will be completed in 12 hours. Now it takes 24 hours. Its construction is estimated to cost Rs 1.1 lakh crore.
Tarkki Ka Expressway
It will pass through six states Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. This is the first such highway in Asia, in the construction of which the facility of Green Overpass will be provided for wildlife. Along with this, Industrial Corridor is also being developed. It is believed that this expressway will prove to be the Expressway of Progress of the country in true sense. This expressway is being built as part of the first phase of the Bharatmala project. The completion of the expressway will improve connectivity to economic centers like Jaipur, Kishangarh, Ajmer, Kota, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore, Ahmedabad, Vadodara. This will boost economic activities in these cities.
This entire expressway will be ready by March next year. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had recently said that the Sohna-Dausa section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway would be inaugurated by the end of this month. With this, the travel time between Delhi and Jaipur will come down to about two hours. The distance between Delhi and Jaipur is approximately 270 km. The Sohna- Dausa section is the first phase of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The Sohna-Dausa stretch was to be completed by December 2021, but due to the Corona epidemic, its work got affected. NHAI has planted about 1.5 lakh saplings on this entire stretch. There is CCTV surveillance on the entire stretch, through which traffic violations to any kind of accident and crime can be monitored.
how much will be the toll
There is also a plan to construct a helipad on this expressway. With this, in case of an accident, the victims can be taken to the hospital as soon as possible. The foundation stone of the Delhi Mumbai Expressway was laid on March 9, 2019. This is Expressway Access Control. This means that no one will be able to move from one side to the other in the middle of the highway. After the completion of the construction of the expressway, there will be a reduction in fuel consumption by 32 crore litres. Also, there will be a reduction of 85 crore kg in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, which is equivalent to planting four crore trees. This would be very beneficial for the environment. There will be rain water harvesting system at every 500 meters on the highway. Along with this, there is a plan to plant 40 lakh trees on both sides of the expressway.
A special method has also been adopted to collect toll on this expressway. On this, you will have to pay only that much toll as per the kilometers your vehicle will run. However, nothing has been officially told about the toll on this. But according to sources, less toll will have to be paid on this as compared to other expressways. Its rate will be Rs 2 per kilometer for passenger vehicles, while it can be Rs 7 per kilometer for commercial vehicles. One specialty in this is that no toll will be charged at the time of entry. Toll will have to be paid at the time of exit.
Challan will be deducted on stopping the vehicle
Rest areas will be made at 93 places on the expressway. That is, there will be a rest area every 50 kms. These will have petrol pumps, motels, rest areas, restaurants and shops. There will be a fun park and swings for the children to play. That is, you can travel from Delhi to Mumbai while having a picnic. On this expressway, vehicles will run at a speed of 120 km per hour. But you cannot stop the vehicle anywhere without technical fault. By doing this your challan will be deducted. The vehicle will be allowed to stop only in the rest area. Speed governors have been installed at various places to keep an eye on overspeed. If someone drives at high speed, his online challan will be deducted. The message will come on the mobile and the fine will also be recovered immediately.
Barricading has been done on both sides of the highway so that stray animals do not cross the road. This is the first such highway in Asia, in the construction of which green overpass facility will be provided for wildlife. Under this, two tunnels of eight lanes will be made. One of these tunnels is first being built from under the Mukundara Sanctuary in Rajasthan. The second tunnel will be built in the Matheran Eco Sensitive Zone of Maharashtra. Its length is also four kilometers. 160 km of this expressway is in Haryana, 374 km in Rajasthan, 245 km in Madhya Pradesh and 423 km in Gujarat.
