New Delhi: Vehicles will start plying on the country’s longest expressway this month itself. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Wednesday that the Sohna-Dausa section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be inaugurated by the end of this month. With this, the travel time between Delhi and Jaipur will come down to about two hours. The distance between Delhi and Jaipur is approximately 270 km. The Sohna (Haryana) – Dausa (Rajasthan) section is the first phase of the New Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be the longest expressway in India and has a total length of about 1,390 km.
Gadkari said in a program that in this month you will reach Jaipur from Delhi in two hours. He did not give any further details about this. After the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is fully operational, the distance from Delhi to Mumbai can be covered in 12 hours, which currently takes 24 hours. It is the longest expressway not only in India but also in the world. Its construction started in 2018. Right now it is being made of eight lanes, which can later be increased to 12 lanes. Its construction is estimated to cost Rs 1.1 lakh crore.

What will be its specialty
The Sohna-Dausa stretch was to be completed by December 2021, but due to the Corona epidemic, its work got affected. NHAI has planted about 1.5 lakh saplings on this entire stretch. There is CCTV surveillance on the entire stretch, through which traffic violations and any kind of accident and crime can be monitored. NHAI is also installing speed guns every 50 kms. There will be speed detection boards every 20 kms to alert the drivers. According to sources, the fine will be deducted from the control room along with visual proof and will be sent to the local police for challaning.
