Abdul Bari Siddiqui: Senior leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Abdul Bari Siddiqui has made controversial remarks regarding women. Due to his statement on the Women’s Reservation Bill, he is being criticized everywhere. Actually, he gave this statement while addressing a program in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
He said, “Women with lipstick and bob-cut hairstyle will come forward in the name of Women’s Reservation Bill.” Let us tell you that this bill was passed during the special session of Parliament that ended a few days ago. Since then it is in discussions. Speaking on this, Siddiqui gave this statement.
What did Siddiqui say on his statement?
Seeing the controversy surrounding his statement, Siddiqui has now given clarification. He said that his party had supported the law from the beginning. His party also wants women’s participation to increase in Parliament. He said that where this program took place, all the women villagers were also present. In such a situation, he used simple rural language to explain the benefits of the new law to the people. But, his statement is being misrepresented.
‘This is proof of their small mentality’
After Siddiqui’s statement, he is being criticized everywhere. BJP leader and Union Minister Kaushal Kishore has termed Siddiqui’s statement as his small mentality. He said that this is proof of his narrow mindedness. The women who have been elected to Parliament are talking about public interest by reading the Constitution and laws. Just like a car has two wheels, women and men will work together in the Parliament and Assembly to make laws that are for the public good and contribute to the development of India.
