    Airtel Tariff Hike: Big blow to Airtel customers, now they will have to recharge this much every month

    New Delhi: Bharti Airtel, the country’s second largest telecom company, has given a big blow to the customers on the new year. The company has increased the minimum monthly recharge of mobile phones by 57 percent to Rs 155 for 28 days in eight circles of the country including Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and West Uttar Pradesh. The company has now discontinued its minimum recharge of Rs 99. It used to cost 2.5 paise per second for 200 MB internet and calls. Airtel has now launched the lowest recharge of Rs 155 in Haryana and Odisha with unlimited calls, 1 GB internet and 300 SMS. The company had initially implemented the increased rates in Haryana and Odisha in November.

    Airtel spokesperson said that it is our endeavor to provide better service to the customers. For this purpose, we have introduced a recharge starting at Rs 155 with unlimited calling, 1 GB internet data and 300 SMS by discontinuing the capped rate recharge. Consumers can now chat with their loved ones at will with this fee. Other circles where the fee rates of Rs 99 have been changed from the fee rates of Rs 155 are Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, North Eastern Region and Himachal Pradesh.

    According to sources related to the matter, the company will gradually implement this scheme across India. The company is planning to phase out all calling and SMS tariffs for recharge below Rs 155 for 28 days. This means that a consumer will have to recharge Rs 155 even for taking SMS only service in the monthly fee rate. Airtel has started 5G services in many cities.
