Air Timing: Due to the increasing congestion at the country’s airports, the government is now asking airline companies to change flight timings. The central government has also asked the airline not to fly small aircraft from Delhi for two months. These include aircraft such as the ATR and Bombardier Q400s. People related to this matter have given this information.
Following the guidelines of the government, the timings of many flights have been changed and efforts are being made to change some. Airlines say that they cannot change their schedules too much. The airline says that flights to small cities like Kullu and Dharamsala are likely to be affected due to the closure of small aircraft.
Not overcrowded at the airport
The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, does not want multiple aircraft to land or take off at an airport at the same time. A senior government official said, “The flight timings should be changed keeping this in mind. This exercise is also aimed at ensuring that there is no overcrowding of people at the airport at a particular time.” A government official said that the government is going to take care in future that there should be different timings for the arrival and take off of the flight so that the congestion at the airport is less.
Crowd complaint at airport
The Government of India hopes that this exercise will help in reducing the crowd at the airport. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that the situation is being monitored at this time and the reason for this is complaints related to the increasing crowd at the airport on social media.
Not possible to change mid-session
Airlines say that it is almost impossible to change flight timings in the middle of winter schedule. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation distributes the flight schedules in the country according to summer and winter. Vinod Kannan, chief executive of Vistara, said about this, “Changing the flight timings at the airport means that we will have to cancel the flight. The reason for this is that we do not have the aircraft available.”
