New Delhi. People of Noida, Ghaziabad, carrying a free bottle of liquor with one from Delhi, beware. If you are caught carrying even a single sealed bottle of liquor, you can go straight to jail. Yes, a bottle of liquor will be allowed to be carried and that too opened. This rule will be applicable for the people of UP only. After a few days, this rule may also be applicable for Haryana.
Due to the new excise policy of the Delhi government, many liquor contracts are getting another free on the purchase of one bottle. At the same time, on buying one box in some places, the second box is getting free. Due to this, a large number of people from Noida- Greater Noida and Ghaziabad are also bringing liquor from Delhi. Due to this, the Excise Department of UP is losing revenue. At the same time, the incidents of liquor smuggling are also increasing. Police and Excise Department are keeping a close watch on such people.
UP’s Joint Excise Commissioner Mahendra Singh and District Excise Officer Rakesh Kumar Singh held a meeting with Delhi’s Excise Department Deputy Commissioner Anand Tiwari and Pankaj Bhatnagar. All the issues were discussed in the meeting. It became clear in the discussion that under the new excise policy of the Delhi government, the revenue of UP is suffering a lot.
After the new policy of liquor in Delhi, people are carrying bottles in vehicles. It was decided in the meeting that only 9 liters of liquor would be given to a person on contract from Delhi in a day. Action will be taken against those who buy and sell more than this, so the team will be deployed in different areas. Along with this, the Excise team of Delhi will also campaign against those smuggling liquor from the border. For those carrying liquor in UP, only one bottle will be allowed to be carried and that too opened. Those carrying sealed bottles will not be allowed. If any person is caught doing this then strict action will be taken against him. In such a situation, that person can also be sent to jail on the charge of smuggling liquor.
Officials of the Excise Department said that action is being taken by conducting a continuous investigation campaign of such smugglers. If people bring liquor from Delhi and supply it, then there will be a loss of revenue. In such a situation, the department has alerted the employees around the Delhi border. Vehicles are also being searched on suspicion.
