New Delhi: Not good news for over one crore central government employees and pensioners. The government has made it clear that their 18 months DA arrears will not be paid. Minister of State for Finance said that Pankaj Chaudhary gave this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha. The central government did not pay DA to its employees for 18 months i.e. between January 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021 during the Corona period. Similarly, pensioners were also not paid Dearness Relief (DR) during this period. The workers have been demanding its payment for a long time. But today the government has made it clear that it will not be paid. This has shocked more than one crore central employees and pensioners.

The Union Minister of State for Finance said that due to the economic disruption caused by the Corona epidemic, it was decided to stop the dearness allowance released on January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021. Its purpose was to reduce the financial burden on the government. The government had saved Rs 34,402.32 crore due to this decision. Chaudhary said that during the Corona period, the government had to spend a lot of money for welfare schemes. Its effect was seen in 2020-21 and even after that. Right now the budget deficit has reached twice the target of the FRBM Act. Therefore, there is no proposal to pay DA arrears.
