ICC World Cup 2023 : Indian cricket team’s star opener Shubman Gill has reached Ahmedabad. Gill reached Ahmedabad from Chennai on Wednesday. However, there is still doubt over his playing against Pakistan on October 14. Gill was not a part of India’s two World Cup matches. He had to miss both the matches due to dengue.
Gill’s health had deteriorated before the ICC World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan. After which he was admitted to the hospital in Chennai. A BCCI source said, “Gill was admitted to the hospital as his health deteriorated. His platelet count had reached 70000. If platelets are less than one lakh, admission becomes necessary.” However, Gill was discharged on Tuesday itself, after which he was recovering in the team hotel.
Doubt about playing against Pakistan
The Pakistan vs India mega match will be played on 14th October at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. For which the Indian team will come to Ahmedabad. Shubman Gill has reached Ahmedabad. But it is not confirmed yet that he will play against Pakistan. Generally, a person suffering from dengue takes 7 to 10 days to recover. But opener batsmen like Gill, who stay on the pitch for a long time, need to be completely fit to play. He is under the observation of the BCCI medical team and is recovering.
Gill was not a part of two World Cup matches
India has been facing setbacks since the beginning of the World Cup. Shubhman Gill was not a part of India’s first match due to dengue. However, India won the first match by defeating Australia by 6 wickets. Due to health issues, Gill could not be a part of India’s second match.
