ENG vs SL ICC ODI World Cup 2023 : The 25th match of World Cup 2023 is being played between England and Sri Lanka in Chennai. The defending champions appeared to succumb to Sri Lanka. Batting first in this match, England was all out after scoring 156 runs in 33.2 overs.
The Sri Lankan bowlers did not allow the England team to bat after winning the toss. The entire England team got defeated in front of him. England lost half its wickets in the first 20 overs. Sri Lanka got its first wicket by dismissing David Malan in 6.3 overs. Then the next success came by running out Joe Root after scoring only 6 runs. Sri Lankan bowler Kasun gave the team its third success by dismissing Jonny Bairstow in 13.2 overs. The team was again taken over by Ben Stokes but after his wicket in the 31st over, England kept losing their wickets continuously.
Lahiru Kumara took important wickets
Sri Lankan bowler Lahiru Kumar took very important wickets for his team. He dismissed England captain Josh Buttler on the 5th ball of the 14th over. As soon as the captain was out, Livingstone came to bat. But after scoring only one run, Lahiru Kumara sent him back to the pavilion. Not only this, Kumara also dashed all the hopes of England by dismissing Ben Stokes, who was playing the innings for England, in 30.1 overs. Apart from these, Rajitha took 2 wickets, Teekshana took 1 wicket and Angelo took 2 wickets.
Stokes missed half century
Ben Stokes, who came to bat at number four in ENG vs SL, played a controlled innings for his team. However he missed his half-century. He scored 43 runs in 73 balls. He lost his wicket to Kumara in the 30th over, but his innings played a big role in England’s total of 156.
