We are taught from childhood to brush our teeth daily. Mother always says that brushing twice a day is good for teeth. It is said that by keeping the teeth clean, stomach related and other diseases can also be avoided. Earlier a 2019 study claimed that brushing teeth can also reduce the risk of atrial fibrillation and heart failure. Now research published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, a journal of the European Society of Cardiology, found a link between oral hygiene and the heart.
Revealed in new research
According to new research, poor oral hygiene leads to bacteria in the blood, which further cause inflammation in the body. Inflammation increases the risk of irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation in technical terms) and heart failure. The new research studied 161,286 people belonging to the Korean National Health Insurance System between the ages of 40 and 79. All these people did not have any heart related diseases. They had a routine medical check-up between 2003 and 2004. which found that during an average follow-up of 10.5 years, about 3.0% of participants developed atrial fibrillation, while 4.9% had an increased risk of heart failure.

The report claims that our body is an entry point for bacteria. Both good and bad bacteria enter it, but some can cause very life-threatening infections.
